Henry Kaiser and Glenn Phillips:

Henry Kaiser is widely recognized as one of the most creative and innovative guitarists, improvisers, and producers in the fields of rock, jazz, and experimental music - Otherminds.org

To say that Glenn Phillips plays guitar is like saying Michael Jordan takes shots at the basket - Stereo Review

From Glenn Phillips' liner notes:

"In 1989, I got a phone call from Henry Kaiser, who wanted me to come to San Francisco to record the title track for a Jimi Hendrix tribute CD, If 6 Was 9. The song would feature he and I on guitars, and Bob Weir of the Grateful Dead on vocals. Henry was familiar with me from my solo releases, and we had recorded together before, most notably on a remake of the Dead's "Dark Star/The Other One," for Those Who Know History Are Doomed to Repeat It, his 1988 Bammy (Bay Area Music Award) winner.

The more we talked about me coming to California, the more excited we got. As both of us were prone to do, we planned a month's worth of activities for the week I was there in January of 1990. Along with Henry's friends Greg Gumbel, Gary Lambert and Mark McQuade Crawford, we played a date at the Great American Music Hall with Steve Kimock sitting in. After that, we recorded the Hendrix track, and then in the spirit of some of the jam session records of the '60s, engineer Oliver Dicicco went on to tape us playing a CD's worth of material, with vocalists Cary Sheldon, Susan James, Robin Petrie and Danny Carnahan added to the mix.

Those tracks are being released for the first time on Guitar Party, over thirteen years after they were recorded."
